it was pretty small, less than 1 cm.

Habitat:

Spotted on the sea shore amongst driftwood, seashells, dead crab carcasses and rocks.

This is not a trombidiid. This is a long-legged erythraeid (Erythraeidae: Erythraeinae), and likely the genus Erythraeus.
