Black spot moth

Epicoma melanospila

Description:

White moth with black dots on each wing. Delicate grey and yellow underwing patterns. Brown spiky caterpillar Pic#6

Habitat:

Caterpillar feeding on Eucalyptus. September 21, 2011 Adult is ex pupa so habit is unknown.

Notes:

The pupa is a loose construction from larva spines and built between two leaves. When disturbed, this moth will play dead, curling its abdomen under (see pic#5)

Shephen, here is the black spot moth in relaxed pose and feigning dead. I raised this one from a caterpillar. I am confident that your ID is correct.

The adult emerged this morning after about six weeks in pupa. I'll find the pupa pic later, and add it to complete the set. I can ID it easily now, just need to make some time.
