Argia apicalus
What happens when you take the good camera on a hike in the summer and be very patient? You get an awesome shot of a male blue fronted dancer. These damselfies take wing in the summer to mate. I had a time looking through all the similar looking Argia damselfies, but the blue fronted dancer is definitely the best match, note the white tail most obviously. The closest looking Argia damselfy in my area, the springwater dancer, has a blue tail, and females are mostly all gray.
Found all throughout North America, usually near pools of water, lakes, streams, etc.
This is probably one of my favorite photos I've taken of a wild animal.
