Squat Shrimp

Thor amboinensis

Description:

This shrimp has a reddish or brownish translucent body, with bright white spots bordered with a blue outline. They stretch their tails up and wave them when they get excited, hence the monicker "sexy shrimp". They move quite fast when they have to, and are always found at or near their host anemone.

Habitat:

Squat shrimp live commensally with a diverse variety of sea anemone, but especially the tube anemone. They can be found across the Indo-Pacific region.
