Rufous Whistler

Pachycephala rufiventris

Description:

Male: grey above, blackish mask extends down side and around neck and above chest as a broad black band. White throat with a rust-coloured (rufous) underside. Beautiful short whip-sound, Bursts of melodious song.

Habitat:

open forests,woodland scrubs from coast to arid inland of mainland Australia.

Notes:

I was attracted to his song and found him unexpectedly. Quality of photos are poor -clips from video. He did not sit still for more than a second. Beautiful little bird ..
