Eastern Gray Squirrel

Sciurus carolinensis

This is an Eastern Gray Squirrel, which are very common in the Eastern parts of North America. This was taken in the evening and as you can see, he is chewing on a nut of some kind. They are most active at dawn and dusk, particularly around Autumn and early Winter when they are storing up nuts for the winter.

Forested areas, backyards, even parks.
