Longhorn Cowfish

Lactoria cornuta

Description:

Also know as Long-horned Cowfish, Horned Boxfish and Horned Trunkfish. They feed on invertebrates and worms, and grow to a length of about 50cm.

Habitat:

Found singly on sand and mud bottoms of lagoons and seaward reefs. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

I photographed this cowfish during a night dive at a depth of about 8m. I was a bit frustrated that I couldn't quite get the whole fish in the frame...
