Clown Anemonefish

Amphiprion ocellaris

Description:

Also known as False Clown Anemonefish, Ocellaris Clownfish, Ocellaris Anemonefish, Western Clown Anemonefish, Common Clownfish, Common Clown Anemonefish, Percula Anemonefish, Percula Clownfish and, of course, "Nemo". They feed on zooplankton and algae. (Anemonefish are specialized damselfish and have a symbiotic relationship with various kinds of sea anemone. Some anemonefish will only be found with one type of anemone, but others can live with many types.)

Habitat:

Found in pairs and family groups on coastal protected reefs, usually associated with the Magnificent Anemone (Heteractis magnifica), but can be found living commensally with other anemones. They are rarely found very far away from their home anemone. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

What's an underwater photography portfolio without these delightful fishies, hey? ;)
