Siphonogorgia godeffroyi
Also known as Godeffroy's Soft Coral, this tree coral looks like the Japanese 'sakura' or cherry blossom tree. They feed on plankton and can grow to about 17cm in length.
Found on rocky and coral reefs along ledges, reef slopes and overhangs. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.
I photographed this very attractive tree coral at a depth of about 20m during a day dive, at a dive site called Mushroom Rock, Samal Island, Philippines.
