Male Kamchatka Brown Bear at Kurile Lake, the second-largest sockeye salmon spawning ground in the world. I shot this at about 50mm; this guy was CLOSE and one of the meaner looking bears we met on the perimeter of the lake this day.
Anywhere you might find salmon in Kamchatka.

There are currently 16 recognized subspecies of brown bear that includes the grizzly, Kodiak and Kamchatka brown bear. The Kamchatka brown bear (Ursus arctos beringianus) is the largest subspecies of brown bear in Europe and can be found on the Kamchatka and nearby islands in the former Soviet Union but also on Saint Lawrence Island in the Bering sea.
