Bright green lichen with black specs, becoming paler as it dries. I usually find it growing on moist hillsides in mountainous areas.

Spotted on a steep hillside that is not far from the Cle Elum river. Coniferous forest. 2000 ft. This widespread lichen grows in a variety of habitat types, including Arctic ecosystems. It grows in alpine climates in the southern parts of its distribution.
