Description:

This wild solitary bee, which resembles a wasp, is in fact a cleptoparasite which intrudes the nest of mining bees to lay her egg in it. The larvae of this bee comes out first and kills the mining bee larvae then eats up the food/pollen which the mining bee has prepared for it's larvae. This is one of the reasons why such parasite bees are called 'cuckoo bees' too. This wasp bee specializes on intruding the nests of the early flying Andrena clarkella and thus is also one of the earliest flying waspbees.
