Potato Orchid

Gastrodia cunninghamii

Description:

A rather unusual orchid in that it is parasitic and has no chlorophyll of its own and is incapable of photosynthesis. The colour of the plant is often brown and white in parts of the flowers.

Habitat:

Likes the dark areas in the forest so definitly beneath the canopy. This is also what makes it so difficult to photograph.
