A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Drosera spathulata
These sun dews were in the swamp just before the Clionton hut on the Milford track. The population in the swamp was relatively dense with no shortage of plants to photograph. There was a considerable number of orchids as well, however, they had finished flowering.
The swamp is normal for these small carniverous plants. It is in fact the swamp pH which forces these plants to top up their nutrients by eating insects.
