Lizard, skink but larger than garden skinks, maybe 250mm long, shiny black with gold scaled spots patterned on top and random white spots under

Habitat:

hiding in rodks, very close to strong rapids river in dense and tall eucalyptus forest

Notes:

I only saw the whole animal for a second after which it would only expose the front half, there were a few others inside, hooded eyes.
