Red-tailed Hawk

Buteo jamaicensis

Description:

mostly white with different shades of brown spots. 18-21 inches.

Habitat:

light forest area with mixed field

Notes:

i spotted him eating--i was able to take these pics from about 8 feet away...not sure if he(she) is a juvenile red tail or maybe a ruff-legged hawk...he never made a sound.

Wonderful series!! We have a lot of red-tails here but so far I can't get close enough to even get a shot. Well done!
