crustose Lichen

Description:

This Lichen was seen in Te Anau on the lake front. This lichen is larger than my hand, and it has often been said that the size is a reflection of the age of the organism. Wonder how old they are. Lichen are of course an association between an algae and a fungi. The first is a close up of the second photo.
