Flea Beetle

Description:

A genuinely Flea-sized Beetle that is really the size and color of a flea! It is only 1.5 mm in length and at the bare ability of my camera to get an OK picture. The hind legs are developed for jumping and it can jump more than 30 cm! That means that if a person (1.6 meters) could jump like this beetle, he would be able to jump 480 meters! Almost half a kilometer (of course, eliminating the problem of gravity). Family Chrysomelidae, subfamily Galerucinae, tribe Alticini.

Habitat:

Garden lights, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
