Hello,
Because if a spotting is uploaded as "unknown" and after this it's given a name suggestion by someone else as the uploader of the spotting, the owner of the spotting has to accept the new name suggestion. Until it's done so, the spotting will be named "unknown".

Just noticed...Why are hundreds of fungi classified as "identified" when they are still named as "unknown" and with no ID?
