No worries Nicole... this is what HDR can do... same pic twice or more at different exposures (Bracketing with +/- EV) to even out the dark and light areas of your frame... strongly recommended to use a tripod, and stay away from moving objects, otherwise you get the "Ghosting effect"... as you can see in the background branch/upper part of the picture.
