Slippery Jack

Suillus luteus

Description:

I think that we found Slippery Jack mushroom because it has a white/orange cap and a white stem like the one below. The day we found the mushroom it was warmer than usual and seeing how it is a fall mushroom and we found it in the fall. Our cap was slimy like the bottom of a slug.It did not have a collar. It had no visible collar. There was only 2 of them near each other. The width is about 2cm and the hight was about 3cm. Scientific classification Kingdom:Fungi Division:Basidiomycota Class:Agaricomycetes Order:Agaricales Family:Suillaceae Genus:Suillus Species:S.Luteus

Habitat:

We found it around Oak, Pine, Birch trees. There were many snake burrow’s around the trees. It was in shade and within the woods

Notes:

We found it on a hot fall day. It was humid. There was snow on the ground. We did not think to smell the mushrooms before because we did not seem to think that that would be a trait.
