Description:

Juvenile specimen, under 6 inches in length, colored as shown. Note absence of ear opening.

Habitat:

Shortgrass prairie with grasses, yucca, prickly-pear cacti, Russian Thistle, other weeds.

Notes:

This is the Northern Earless Lizard subspecies, H. m. maculata.
