Sciurus sp.
squirrel looking for a handout
Pacific northwest coast, near small urban areas
spotted at Harris Beach State Recreation Area; looked a lot like a grey squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis, but if so, it's well outside the reported range for that species; there is tell-tail evidence (I apologize) of two squirrels in the picture; if memory serves, the other squirrel was trying to eat my right boot; because of human handouts, wildlife at this location are not so wild; while not totally fearless, most are quite aggressive in their quest for a free lunch

He's obviously perfected the appealing "feed me" look! :)
Cool spotting. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I didn't post the rest of the set; they didn't come out as well. My experience trying to get a good pic of one of those "in-your-face" squirrels validates the old advice, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."
Wow, nicely caught,
