Ambystoma tigrinum tigrinum
Large member of the mole salamander family. This particular specimen was a young adult and approximately 6 inches long. It was black with circular yellow spots on the dorsum, making it look a little like a spotted salamander.
Found on a wet, rainy rural road.
"As this is a sensitive species, and like all species, is worthy of our protection, the locality information has been altered to protect this organism."
