Hygrocybe Marginata
Medium size mushroom, about 4 centimeters tall and a stringy stalk. The cap is moist, but not waxy. It is a tannish-brown/orange color. It also has adnexed gills and no collar.
Grassy, few leaves close to the woods (about one meter away). A few of the same mushrooms all about 4-5 centimeters away.
I think the mushroom I have chosen is Hygrocybe Marginata. Outside it is fairly cold. Maybe 35-40°. I found this mushroom off the side of the path that leads to our school. It was in the grass. There wasn’t very many leaves around it. So that is probably why it was half dead when I found it. The mushroom is about 3 centimeters tall, tannish-brown and has adnexed gills. There is no collar, there were a couple of the same mushrooms. All the mushrooms nearby were about 4-5 centimeters away. The cap was roundish, and the trees around it were White Pine, Oak, Maple, and Poplar. The mushroom had a indescribable smell to it. The cap wasn’t slimy but it was moist. The cap was about 3 centimeters around. The stalk was pretty long compared to the cap. The initial stalk without the cap is about 5 centimeters. If you cut the stem it would look stringy. The kingdom is Fungi phylum is basidiomycota. Class agricomyctes Order agaricales Family hygrophoracea Genus hygrocybe Species marginata
