American Kestrel

Falco sparverius

Description:

Medium sized American Kestrel; light reddish brown on the top of the wings and the dorsum; white colored venter with small flecks of brown; generally a grey tail with darker bands running laterally across.

Habitat:

Photographed at a park during the morning; approximately 8:30am.

Notes:

The Kestrel was being harassed by several House Sparrows (Passer domesticus) for about 15 minutes until, eventually, the sparrows left. The Kestrel remained perched for the entire time that I took photographs.
