Blue-spotted Salamander

Ambystoma laterale

Description:

This salamander is about 7" long, very fat. Currently the salamander is displaying the behavior it preforms when it is being cornered by a predator : keeping its head still, while wiggling its tail to distract the predator, while it looses its tail and escapes.

Habitat:

Found under a moist rock, in the middle of summer right after a rain. ( in my backyard behind the garage, near a maple/alpine forest.)

Notes:

The salamander is keeping its head still, while wiggling its tail to distract the predator, while it looses its tail and escapes.
