A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Phoca vitulina
Baby seal on shore with its mother
Northern California coastline on Pacific Ocean
Was spotted on 17 mile drive outside of Carmel, California on the shore with a parent seal. It had been there in the community for about a week. It even made the front page of their local paper.

@Bong--thank you! This was an amazing experience to be this close to this young seal!
Nice shot Indeed...
You should check Florida out..is a great place to just drive much like the Pacific Coast. Great wildlife..wonderful birds and fantastic botanical gardens. And, you can see the sun rise on one side and easily see it set on the gulf on the same day. Fantastic.
That is so true, what you said about spring and fall.
Have'nt seen much of Florida. Would like to one day though!
Well that's true...I still believe that nothing beats a spring-Fall season in Michigan..especially on Lake Michigan.
And, of course, I find that one of my all-time favorite places is Florida...
Each place has its own charm, I lived in Chicago for 20 years and enjoyed every minute of it.
Yes, there is....I am a college professor/administrator and my ultimate goal would be to retire from a college near Berkley. So gorgeous.
Cute seal. Monterey and Muir woods are very deliteful. There is just so much to see .
Thank you Karen and Alice. It was a great spotting. There is this great community outside Monterey Bay with beautiful houses and a wonderful coastline that you can drive through...he was there. Had attracted alot of people over the week and found himself on the front page of their community magazine.
Very nice!
