as Benny Hill said -"learning...learning... all the time !" thanks Clive. This one does look like a dried, split puff or earthball.
Also, I notice that the split, curled parts are less regular in shape and shorter than those of the earthstar.

These are attractive little fungi. The one in your photo has water that's collected in the centre submerging the soft spore sac. There should be more around !
