Green Heron

Butorides virescens

Description:

This young heron was spotted in marsh behind a popular retail and restaurant space in Shem Creek. It wasn't until I was looking at the pictures I took later that I noticed it has something wrong with its feet. I don't know if this are the result of deformity or injury, but both feet seem to be affected to some degree.

Habitat:

Green Herons live around wooded ponds, marshes, rivers, reservoirs, and estuaries.

Notes:

Spotted in the creek/marina behind a retail/restaurant area at Shem Creek in Charleston, SC
