Iropoca rotundata
This 30 x 15 mm fluffy white specimen is a wingless female moth found on the inner side of a piece of bark. All 3 pairs of legs were visible and I could make out some body segments (pic 6). When gently tipped over on its back (pic 2), I could see the opening at the rear end of the abdomen. Antennae were not visible.
Just beside the moth was hairy cocoon with a well defined opening on one end (pic 4) and remnants of a pupal case inside (pic 5)
Found on a fallen piece of thick bark, near a stump of a eucalyptus tree.
A fascinating find for me !! Thanks to Mark Ridgway and Ken Walker for the ID. Here's a previous spotting of an adult http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/122... Family: Lymantriidae
