A wood/soil living isopod. Brownish-grey body. 14 total segments. Small bumps texture its back. Its segments flare out slightly more than rolling isopods.
Of course. I'm not sure if land isopods are called anything else, actually.
Ok, then you are right because there are many specific species of wood louse or pill bug. But, still a wood louse likely.
Nope. These are different from the rolling isopods, so species identify will be a bit more difficult for me.
Thanks! I was truly fascinated by the version that rolls into a ball as a child. We used to play with them when we found them under logs. Very cool to see. Never realized until I was an adult that they were crustaceans instead of insects.
And, the most fascinating thing about woodlice is that there is a species of spider that only feeds on them. Fascinating.
