Dink Frog

Eleutherodactylus diastema

Description:

Small (approx 2.5cm) nocturnal frog. Common names include common tink frog or dink frog, because of the loud metallic "tink" sound that the male frog makes during the night.

Habitat:

Landscaping/garden plants at Arenal Observatory Lodge.

Notes:

I have often heard these frogs in the night. I love hearing the sound they make! But it is surprisingly hard to pinpoint their location. This one was so loud though, we were convinced it had to be right on top of us (almost literally). We gently lowered several leaves of this plant until we discovered it (using a flashlight).
