Andrena nitida

Andrena nitida

Description:

Another of the many early flying mining bees living in the vincinity of my home. Have seen them primarely on Salix and Taraxacum species, literature also states Ranunculus , which are present here , but never saw them visiting the plants (so far). It's a bulky species, where the females resemble Andrena clarkella alot, only the color of the hairs on the hind legs in A. nitida are black whereas in the earlier flying A. clarkella they are red/brown.
