Santa Triflefin and his Christmas Tree Worm wish a Merry Christmas to all our members and followers celebrating today, and a Happy Festive Season to all! Christmas tree worms, Spirobranchus giganteus (family Serpulidae), are small Christmas-tree shaped marine worms with magnificent twin spirals of plumes which are used for breathing and passive feeding. They come in many colors including yellow, orange, blue and white. Throughout the holiday season we'll continue to bring you highlights from our members' spottings of the natural world.
Merry Christmas to you Ole Johan Brett and thanks for this colorful contribution all this time back! We hope you're well.
