Coral Fungus

Clavicorona pyxidata

Description:

Multiple branched stalks, white-yellow. Spores form on the upright stalks of coral fungi and are unprotected from the elements compared to gill or pore fungi.

Habitat:

Spotted at Tamarac NWR on Hwy 35 in the northern wilderness area.

Notes:

Coral fungus completes the breakdown of decayed wood.
