Starburst anemone

Description:

The one in the photo was about 10 to 12 cm in diameter. It had sticky green tentacles.

Habitat:

Tide pools on coastal rock platforms. At low tide, may only be covered by a few centimetres of water. Column typically covered with shelly debris and retracts when not submerged.

Notes:

Found in a tide pool on the rock platform at the north end of Kehoe Beach at Point Reyes National Seashore in California. Stripes on oral disc were fairly faint.
