Yearling buck, early May in Minnesota, still has his winter fur. You can see the beautiful smooth red coat underneath the guard hairs . He will also lose all that fluff in the ears. I have an oak/cherry woods with a pond, and have lots of deer all year.

Nice description and love the second pic! Always seems to make me smile when I see a pic of a critter sticking its tongue out ;)
