Sunflower Star

Pycnopodia helianthoides

Description:

A juvenile sunflower sea star. They are relatively swift moving for an echinoderm. This one is colored grey-purple with a pale tan underside. My hand is in the first photo for size comparison. The video demonstrated movement in the animal.
