Phainopepla

Description:

this amazing bird is a Phainopepla, it looks quite a lot like a cardinal, except for it's coal-black color, and it is much smaller than a Cardinal. it looks like a Cardinal because of it's shape, and Tintin style tuft of feathers on it's head.

Habitat:

the Phainopepla lives in Arizona. They often nest in the desert Mistletoe, and often squawk in warning when people come near. I see them quite frequently nesting on telephone wires or cacti.

That's a female in your picture. Don't they have the sweetest voices!?
