Description:

Glass or Jelly like Fungus - reddish/black with strange images of a woman on the first two specimens. (Might be Tree Ear or Witches' Butter) The Fungus was hard (nearly frozen so it had the appearance of glass).

Habitat:

Woodlands of the Poconos

I saw the animal too and forgot to mention that. I know. It is so freaky! It is naturally occurring and weird! I imagine that it is a Woodland fairy who has been banished into the glass fungus for her bad behavior. I will rescue her. HA!

Under the woman, abit to the right, we can see the head of an animal. It is possible to see the eye, ear and nose. Or maybe it is just my imagination... Too much sugar, you know...
