Black-crowned Night Heron

Description:

Adults are black-crowned with 2 long feathers from back of head. Black crown and down the back. Light gray underneath and gray wings. Eyes are red and bill is yellow and black. Legs are yellow. Most of the time they will look hunched over but can also stretch out their neck. They usually nest in large groups in trees. Sometimes with other Herons and Egrets.

Habitat:

Usually found near water, reeds, marshes and flooded fields. May also can be found by dumps and dumpsters.
