This is a female Franklin with her chicks. Their colour provides a very good camouflage as it took some time for me to see the chicks! The red-necked spurfowl or red-necked francolin (Pternistis afer), is a gamebird in the pheasant family Phasianidae of the order Galliformes, gallinaceous birds.
