Paraechinus micropus
Native to India and Pakistan, Indian Hedgehogs are a nocturnal and crepuscular species occurring in semi-arid and arid habitats. Largely insectivorous but feed on frogs, toads, lizards, and fallen fruits
With shrinking suitable habitats, these can be found sometimes close to human settlements too.

Congratulations Vipul, your Indian Hedgehog is our Spotting of the Day:
Our Spotting of the Day is a beautiful depiction of an Indian Hedgehog (Paraechinus micropus) in its fragile and arid habitat, with just enough vegetation to sustain its preys and provide lining for its nest. From our member Vipul Ramanuj's notes: "Native to India and Pakistan, Indian Hedgehogs are a nocturnal and crepuscular species occurring in semi-arid and arid habitats. Largely insectivorous but feed on frogs, toads, lizards, and fallen fruits. With shrinking suitable habitats, these can be found sometimes close to human settlements too".

That is one adorable photo!
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated Vipul!
This is SO CUTE!!!
