Cinnyris chloropygius
Very common red-breasted sunbird of lowlands of central Africa, some 10 to 12 cm in length. Breeding male is strikingly colored - it sports an iridescent green hood (head, neck, nape and upper back), with bright red chest and pale olive green belly; and dark olive green wing covers and rump. Female is brown-olive-green above, with yellowish below with neatly drawn yellow supercilium.
A very common sunbird of lowlands of Central and West Africa. Found at forest edges (avoiding dens forest), woodlands, secondary growth or plantations and gardens. Often found in vicinity of human settlements. Here, observed and clicked several times during the first half of the year 2013, in gardens in one of residential compounds in central Kinshasa.
