Ammomanes deserti
This lark is a medium-sized (15 to 16cm in length) and long-billed lark. It rather dull, earth-brown, colored which made it difficult to notice in desert environment. There are 22 subspecies accounted for at present; judging by the place where I saw it, my guess is that this is Khartoum desert lark; A. d. erythrochroa.
Found in desert and semi-desert environment from West Sahara to India; here observed in semi-desert close to the historical site, pyramids of Meroe.
For my 500th ird spotting, I decided to attack the last chapter of my archives, Sudan birdlife.
