Crane Fly

Epiphragma sp.

Description:

A small slim mosquito-like fly of about 2 cms, with very long and slender legs. Head has a pair of short antennae. The mouth parts are elongated ending in a soft tuft (labella). Wings folded over and patterned.

Habitat:

urban gardens, grasslands and open forests

Notes:

Found this fly inside the house - not an uncommon sight. It bobbed up and down for a while before settling. Family: Limoniidae
