Oak Gall

Description:

About the size of a ping pong ball, looks very papery. Is mostly brown, with small spots of black, very wrinkly. On the inside, there is a small dark solid..ball? in the middle, with thin tan tubes radiating to the edge of the sphere.

Habitat:

Forest

Notes:

I'm unsure of which oak species the tree is, but photos of the leaves can be found here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/830.... Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.

This was made by a type of wasp! I love how the insides of these galls look.
