A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Chromacris speciosa
These were everywhere in the place I went to shoot today. At least three groups, each with dozens of individuals.
Tx again, Bayucca. I looked for information about these guys when I submitted the spot, but I found many confused info. So I left it to another time, and ended up forgetting them. I still find some immature individuals in the same place I saw these, and I wonder if it happens that they never will become adults. Or maybe they just didn't get what they needed to grow up...

There was a group with more than 60 or 70 individuals, grouped by tens or dozens. But there wasn't light enough to photograph them all together. It is an impressive sight. I wonder if there will be enough food for all of them. Poor plants...
I would expect grasshoppers to be on the ground and not in foliage. But these are certainly grasshoppers... interesting sighting, interesting also how many young instar nymphs congregate for safety.
