Thankyou so much Lori ...i had a feeling it was orb ...but had not yet had a good look , our front bushes are just a web playground for these at the moment , in one shrub i have counted 11 ..only all relatively small at this stage.

Ah, Eriophora pustulosa, one of the Garden orb weaving spiders. We've got one building a continuous web in the back door frame of our house. We call her "Charlotte", of course. I'll post some pics of her shortly.
